Job description:


  • Act as Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HS & EP) advisor to Head of Establishment for nominated site, maintaining HS&EP management system policies and procedures, promulgating and promoting relevant HS & EP publications as required, to ensure compliance with MOD Policy and applicable legislation

Person specification:


Responsibilities

  • Manage and review the implementation of the DD HS & EP Management System within your area of responsibility, ensuring specialist advice and support to DDS staff and top management is available when requested.
  • Manage the development and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems. Ensuring specialist environmental advice and support to DD staff is available when requested.
  • Manage nonconformance identified during HS & EP Audits and Inspections within area of responsibility, working with DD business areas and line managers to develop and agree suitable mitigation, reporting progress regularly and escalating issues to top management when required.
  • Actively participate in the DD HS & EP Audit program by undertaking lead auditor and audit team rolls, drafting reports, collating accurate evidence and developing less experienced members of the audit team.
  • React to incidents appropriately to reduce the possibility of harm occurring in the future and ensuring they are reported, proportionate investigations are undertaken in accordance with DD Policy 202 and lessons learned promulgated to all stakeholders effectively.
  • Line Management of a member of staff in HS & EP Team, ensure they receive appropriate direction and support for their role.
  • Promote a positive health and safety throughout all areas.
  • Act as the Sustainability Lead for DD responsible sites including engagement with key stakeholders. This also includes engagement with the Sustainability Champion & Lead for Climate Change & Sustainability.

Qualifications:


  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification. Please detail in your supporting statement what equivalent qualifications you hold. Please note these should be current/ in date.
