To provide an efficient reception/administration support service to the multi-disciplinary team within the Oncology department, using Patient Management Systems, Aria, VARIS (Radiotherapy system) and other Trust IT systems.
This includes Oncology Outpatients and Chemotherapy Day Case.
To receive patients attending the clinic and check details on the Patient management system (the Hospital computerised Patient Information System) or VARIS (Radiotherapy Patient Information System).
Process outcome of appointments on the Patient Management System e.g. book follow-up, add patient to waiting list, discharge etc. Print off waiting list letters and act as a first point of contact for booking appointments.
Admitting/ discharging patients for Chemotherapy. Booking patients on ARIA system for further chemotherapy appointments.
Working as part of the Oncology team, this role will be working with our small oncology reception team.
Supporting clinical colleagues to ensure patients attending their clinic or day case appointment are greeted with a friendly, professional manner.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

- up, add waiting list entry, discharge etc.
Administering waiting lists in conjunction with Trust Waiting List Policy. Placing patients on waiting lists for follow-up appointment. Booking follow-up appointments through outpatient's waiting list, either by phone or from outcomes.
Ensuring patient outcomes are entered on the patient management system to meet 18 week Referral to Treatment performance targets.
To answer the telephone and deal with enquiries from a number of sources e.g. patients, GP's, other medical staff or rout the call appropriately.
To print and send appointment invitation letters as instructed by the Medical Secretaries.
To act as a first point of contact for patients booking future appointments.
To deal with distribution of case notes after clinic
To ensure all outcome forms are completed and entered on to the patient management system
To carry out assigned tasks under the supervision of a qualified nurse and refer difficulties with patients enquiries to the Nurse in charge.
