Deputy Head of Marine

With 45 years experience, Mivan is a dynamic and progressive specialist joinery and interior fit-out contractor with a reputation for excellence and innovation and an international track record of achievement within a broad range of sectors including luxury hotels, prime residential, commercial and marine.

The Company provides a turn-key service from in-house design, manufacturing and planning to site management and installation. Mivan's facilities include a 110,000 factory located in Co. Antrim Northern Ireland.

Due to continued growth and recent contract awards the opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Head of Marine.

The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Marine in managing all aspects of marine contracts, ensuring the delivery of projects safely, on time, within budget and to the client's specification.

Main duties will include:

Support the Head of Marine in the development, communication and implementation of marine operational objectives in line with the Company's strategy.
Ensure clear project plans that maximise the commercial and financial return are in place for all contracts. Ensure these are communicated to all relevant employees and that project targets and priorities are understood.
Assist with managing priorities on and between projects and the allocation and/or transfer of staff and resources across projects accordingly.
Assume project management responsibilities on marine contracts as directed, from planning stage through to deliver on time, within budget and to specification.
Undertake a key role in the development and management of the marine team, providing direction, motivation and leadership to Mivan personnel, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
Undertake responsibility for all safety, health, environment and quality matters ensuring adherence to statutory and legal requirements and Company procedures.
Lead, review and challenge project budgets and forecast to ensure a consistent and deliverable approach is adopted.
Proactively develop good working relationships with external Clients to help secure repeat business.
Assist in identifying work winning opportunities, working closely with the Business Development Director to engage with clients.
Provide the estimating team with support on tenders regarding programme, technical matters including buildability and supply chain and also post tender and preaward support.
Demonstrate clear and visible leadership, with capacity to absorb responsibility and accountability.
Actively drive and promote excellence, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
Undertake any other duties within the job holder's sphere of knowledge, experience or competency as requested.

The nature of Marine, the role is predominately office based in Antrim, but as Deputy Head of Marine, there will be a requirement to attend and take responsibility to ensure a successful delivery for the client.
