At Northampton General Hospital we provide general acute services and hyper-acute stroke, vascular and renal services to people living in Northamptonshire.
As well as this we are an accredited cancer centre and provide cancer services to a wider population of Northamptonshire and parts of Buckinghamshire.

We are driven to helping you to be the best you can be.NEED A CHANGE? This might be it. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our busy team on Finedon Ward. We are seeking enthusiastic, highly motivated Health Care Assistants to join the team at Northampton General.
You must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate a keen interest in patient Care, as well as the desire to develop your knowledge and skills within this area.
The department offers a wide range of education and development opportunities for the right person and excellent support from a mentor and senior nursing team.
We offer a comprehensive supernumerary period.Main Duties of the role
- To work using own initiative in planning workloads and working effectively within the team.
- Take and record vital signs as requested, i.e., temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure, oxygen saturation and Early Warning Score (EWS) and reporting any abnormalities/concerns to the registered healthcare practitioner.
- Ensuring patients have a positive experience on the ward.
- Working in a way which reflects the Trust values.
- Chaperoning and acting as a patient advocate when required.
- Providing clear and concise verbal communication to other members of the team.
- Recognising the Equality and Diversity of patients, clients, relatives, and multidisciplinary groups by supporting nondiscriminatory practice & acknowledging the patient's personal beliefs and identity.
- Completing clear and concise documentation on any care delivered to patients.
We have also entered into a Group Model with neighbouring Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and become University Hospitals of Northamptonshire.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Communication:
Recognise and maintain confidentiality of information relating to patients and their records
Ensure clarity in communicating with patients and their relatives as well as other team members and in answering questions within the sphere of one's own knowledge.
Contribute to the on-going support of patients and others significant to them, enabling patients to maintain their interests, identity, and emotional well-being.
Demonstrate a caring approach to patients, their families, and visitors and to have good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
To be courteous and helpful to patients, families/carers, colleagues and all users to the trust.
Leadership
Lead by example with drive and enthusiasm, responding appropriately to the needs of patients, families, and carers.
Work in a way which demonstrates the Trust values
Set high standards of care for the department, including clinic cleanliness etc., ensuring these are maintained so that the patients experience is excellent.
