Loco Driver (Rail Traffic Team Member):

What you need to know about the role


Our Rail and Traffic department based at Scunthorpe are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Team Member to be responsible for the safe operation of their assigned Locomotive.

All designated operations must be conducted in a safe and efficient manner in line with the Departmental safety guidelines and Safe Working Practices therefore you need to as passional about health and safety as we are.


Within this role, you will conduct Rail Shunting Operations to convey a Locomotive or Train around the site rail system under the direction of the designated person in charge.

This includes Remote Controlled Locomotive operation.


You will be responsible for organising the sequence of shunting operations, to complete the required task while ensuring all operations are conducted in a safe manner in line with the published Safe Working Procedures whilst paying attention to any applicable site restrictions.

As a business health and safety is our number one priority.

You will receive a significant amount of training in this area, ensuring you have the highest level of knowledge to maintain a safe working environment.


What we need to know about you


In order to fulfill the requirements of the role, you must be able to work in physically demanding weather and conditions which includes walking significant distances.


You must have achieved a good all-round education along with a minimum of either GCSE Maths and English Language to level 4 (grade C) or Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2.

You must have the ability to understand and comply with the relevant Safe Working Procedures.


As this is a shift based system (including weekend working), you must be aged 18 or over to satisfy the legal requirements.
