Due to advancements within their product range, along with broadening their markets, they now have a great opportunity for an additional Mechanical Design Engineer to join an enthusiastic and established team.
The Role
Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Designer, you'll carry responsibility for the mechanical design for new and existing products.
You'll manage designs through all stages of NPI, from initial discussions, development, and production (DFM), whilst ensuring timescales and budget are adhered to.
This includes:
- Working with the team to design easy to use products.
- Reviewing project requirements and design tests needs, ensuring traceability through the various revisions.
- Defining product requirements and project deliverables, along with timings for each project.
- Providing technical support to the operations and production teams to ensure the product can be manufactured.
- Providing milestone updates to all involved in the project, including activities to keep projects on time and within plan.
- Ensuring that all designs and calculations are validated, traceable and in line with agreed deliverables.

The Person
In order to be considered for this Mechanical Design Engineer role, there are a few things that need to be in your locker
These include:
- A degree or relevant vocational qualifications within mechanical product design
- Proven SolidWorks abilities (ideally CSWP qualified or sufficient experience) other 3D packages may be considered
- An ability to manage the full NPI lifecycle
- Solid experience within a product design environment
- Proven ability of design for manufacture (DFM)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Proven problemsolving skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Knowledge of plastic injection moulding
- FMEA experience and ability to produce calculations
- Experience of working in a fastpaced manufacturing environment
- This role may suit an established Mechanical Design Engineer or a Graduate with a couple of years realworld experience under their belt.
