Description

We are very excited to be working with our client in their search to recruit a
Head of Philanthropy & Major Partnerships.

This is an exciting time to join their expanding fundraising team as they seek to build income to secure the future of their services.

They have a solid portfolio of warm trust donors and your brief will be to oversee that work, whilst developing corporate and major donor fundraising strategies, identifying new prospects and building compelling funding appeals and winning pitches.

You'll have lots of autonomy while working closely with the Director of Fundraising and Marketing as deputy. You will also work with the Director of Services to identify and maximise any statutory funding opportunities.


Responsibilities:


To lead the development and implementation of a strategy to raise funds from corporate partnerships, major donors, trusts and statutory bodies.


To work with colleagues to build a comprehensive pipeline of prospects across these fundraising areas, with a well organised schedule to ensure all opportunities are maximised.


To manage and deliver research to identify prospects and develop appropriate funding propositions that align their interests with our fundraising priorities.


To manage approaches to prospective donors / partners; delegating some prospects to colleagues and personally leading on your own portfolio.

To utilise the Trustee Board and other warm contacts to gain introductions to prospective donors.


To develop, oversee and implement a stewardship plan for all donors which enhances the relationship, building retention and achieving uplifts in donations.

To take responsibility for use of data, ensuring all members of the team are compliant with GDPR.


To ensure all funding partners are account managed in the most appropriate way, with timely updates and reports; delegating some of these accounts to colleagues and personally leading on your own account management portfolio.

To monitor and evaluate all fundraising activity, to develop best practice and implement mitigating measures as needed.


To line manage and motivate the current team, providing leadership and expertise to oversee their professional development; to recommend and implement team expansion as the income and workload grows.


To manage the income and expenditure budgets for corporate, trusts, major donors and statutory funding, reporting on variances to budget and identifying mitigations as needed.

To produce SLT and Board reports as needed by the Director of Fundraising and Marketing.


To take a proactive role in supporting the Director of Fundraising and Marketing in team meetings, away days and overall team leadership.


To maintain an involvement in the wider work of the department, supporting and motivating the wider team and deputising for the Director of Fundraising and Marketing when needed.

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualities

Solid track record as a manager in corporate, and/or major donor fundraising, with proven success leading on winning and managing significant numbers of donations / partnerships worth five and six figure sums, OR


An interest and understanding of what's needed, with the ability to demonstrate transferable skills that have been gained from your solid track record in a commercial role e.g.

sales, account management etc, winning and managing accounts worth five/six figures.


Excellent communication skills and able to show a history of building and stewarding strong relationships which grow and develop over time.

Superb negotiation and influencing skills.


Highly developed listening skills, with the ability to understand and respond to people or organisational motivations for supporting a charity like Wessex Cancer Trust.

Resilient, ambitious and optimistic.

Previous line management experience preferred.

Full time - 37.5hours per week but will consider part time / flexible hours) Hybrid (expected that approx. 60% of time will be spent in the office in Eastleigh)


Salary:
£42,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
