Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 3:30pm, Term-time only

Grade 4, Points - 6, £21,198 - £21,968 (Full-time equivalent)

£17, £18, pro-rata)

The Board of Directors of the Romero Catholic Academy Trust wish to appoint an energetic, well-motivated Business Support Officer/ Trust Clerk to join our growing and friendly Central Team.


The role involves providing administration support to the Central team and providing a clerking service to our Local Governing Bodies, ensuring an effective, high-quality administration service is provided.


Although based at the Trust central offices in Padiham, although you will be expected to attend governor meetings which generally take place after school hours (consideration to flexability around your working hours will be given during meeting periods).

You will be providing Clerking services to six of our schools in Burnley and the surrounding areas as well as carrying out general adminstration duties.

Appropriate training and ongoing support will be given.

JOB PURPOSE:
The main objectives to be achieved by the Postholder


You will be expected to attend governors' meetings at a range of schools and provide advice on the legal and procedural aspects of school governance.

Clerks to Governors are a governing board's key advisor and play an important part in supporting and recording decisions.

In addition to this, clerks are required to manage agendas, distribute supporting documentation, and produce accurate minutes within appropriate timescales.

Under supervision you will maintain, update and record governor information on our Trust Governor system and Governor records.

Alongside this, you will provide general administrative support to the Central Team. This could include


Producing and formatting letters/documents, the filing and scanning of documents, supporting the Executive Team with low level administration tasks and collating information to produce a Trust newsletter.

The role will involve the use of a range of software packages.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities - appropriate for this post:

General administration

  • Provide general clerical and administrative support, including word processing, formatting of documents, minute taking, filing routine correspondence, distributing mail, etc.
  • Support the Directors of Education with the Trust network group meetings.
  • Maintaining stock and ordering supplies, including the processing of orders, check of
incoming deliveries, obtaining prices from occasional suppliers and the distribution and storage of stock.

  • Routine financial administration, including the inputting of purchase orders/invoices.
  • Coordinate and produce the Trust termly newsletter.

Clerking

  • Maintaining and updating manual and computerised records including, for example,
details of governors and training records.

  • Create and organise agendas and supporting material.
  • Attend Governor meetings and take accurate minutes of meetings ensuring decisions and challenge are recorded.
  • Support Local Governing Bodies in Governors meetings to provide advice on legal and procedural aspects of school governance.
  • Ensure minutes are checked by the Chairs following meetings in a timely manner.
  • Carry out meeting follow up actions such as recording minutes as signed, logging attendance and uploading minutes to the governance system.

General

  • To work within school policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work professionally and form strong and trusted relationships with school partners.
  • To attend skill training and participate in personal/performance development as required.
  • To take care for their own and other people's health and safety.
  • To be aware of the confidential nature of issues.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • An understanding of the role of governing bodies in the school system.
  • Experience as a clerk to school governors, experience of governance, and/or other experience of school governance.
  • Experience of working in a professional capacity in a similar field e.g. education, legal, or financial.
