Outreach Worker and PA Job Description

Introduction


MAIN was established in 2002 to provide support and advice to parents and/or carers of autistic children in the Middlesbrough area.

We recognised the need for support within our local communities and have since expanded across Teesside and County Durham, offering a variety of accessible services for autistic children, young people, and adults.

We pride ourselves on holistic and person-centred support, maximising quality services alongside social value and investment within our communities.


The Role
MAIN have been successful in expanding our services for Children and Young People in the County Durham area.

The role of Outreach Worker and PA involves working with our clients in different settings, including within our clubs to encourage social skills and active participation or in a 1:1 setting, supporting individuals with goals and outcomes such as independence, accessing the community and promoting confidence and wellbeing.


Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the delivery of activities set out by the Facilitator and Service Manager.
  • Supporting clients to access the community.
  • Working independently and as part of a team.
  • Supporting and encouraging client's welfare and development and being flexible in this approach.
  • Planning activities in line with the needs of the individual's care plan and in consultation of the Service Team.
  • Working within MAIN's policies and procedures and appropriately reporting incidents and/or concerns.
  • Effective and timely recording of sessions which includes the views of the client, any challenges faced and identifying further goals or outcomes.

Person Specification

Qualification/Attainments

  • A good standard of education.
  • Level 2 Health and Social Care.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Experience of working within the disability sector.
  • Ability to always remain professional.
  • Good time management and ability to meet deadlines for submission of paperwork.
  • Promotion of equal opportunities and understanding the needs of the client.
  • Understanding goals and outcomes and working within guidelines.
  • Ability to adhere to the Charity's policies and procedures.
  • Evidence of understanding standard social care practices such as safeguarding and GDPR.
  • Good and adaptable communication with clients, families/support networks and the team.

Other

  • Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
  • Commitment to completing relevant training required.
  • To work variable shifts in accordance with the rota.
  • Reliable and committed to the role in supporting our children, young people, and adults.

Hours:
Starting on a 3 month contract, working Saturdays 10am-5pm

Durham


Training:
A full induction process is carried out for all new employees. All staff will be expected to complete all training requirements of the role. Further opportunities can be discussed and available during employment where appropriate with your line manager

Zero hours contract


Salary:
From £11.44 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 6 per week
