Description

If you are as passionate about careers and employability as we are, and have the range of skills and leadership experience we're looking for, this could be a great opportunity for you to join a world top 100 university in a new Deputy Head of Careers role.

We are a university that transforms futures and our goal is for our Careers Service and employability provision to be truly sector leading.

In the last few years the University has established employability as a key strategic theme, and the Careers Service has developed innovative services and digital tools to help our students to assess and reflect on their skills and personal development, and enhance their employability and career decision making.

This role arises from the formation of a new senior management structure in Careers, with two Deputy Head roles, working together with our Head of Careers to lead and further develop the university's careers and employability provision for students and graduates, inspiring our teams and influencing activity across the institution.

This second Deputy Head of Careers role presents a great opportunity to join a fast moving, impactful and innovative service working in close collaboration with academic and professional services colleagues to bring the best possible range of employability services and opportunities to our students, graduates and employer partners.

We're looking for someone with an excellent understanding of why employability is such a key priority in HE, and of the range of services and solutions being adopted and developed across the sector; someone with the skills and attributes to be a positive and impactful senior manager and a true team player, working with colleagues and stakeholders to continue to advance all aspects of our work.

This won't be a purely management role - alongside the strategic input you'll also have a key focus on operational delivery, working with key teams within the Service to translate strategic objectives into deliverable solutions that generate measurable outcomes.

There will also be key service-led projects to lead, and institutional projects to influence.

We are increasingly data informed, powered by collaboration, very people focused, and always seeking real impact and outcomes. If this sounds like your approach then we look forward to hearing from you.

Almost needless to say, we'd welcome applicants from population groups typically underrepresented in HE careers services, but the key focus of our search for a person to take on this new role is to find the right range of skills, understanding and leadership attributes.

Due to the nature of the role we would expect that the majority of your time will be spent on campus, with some opportunities for home working.

We're one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.

The University's Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect.

We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
