Description

About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM
Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where people use their vision and commitment to open doors for the next generations.

Nothing beats the feeling of helping someone find their passion. At Westminster City Council, our City Lions team helps young local people engage with culture, creativity and dreams. When they came across a lonely, isolated 16-year-old who called himself a failure, they knew what to do. They worked 1-2-1 to find the thing this boy really loved. YouTube, it turned out. But it's impossible to turn that into a career, right? Wrong. A week later, he was enrolled on the British Film Institute film-making programme. It was the ultimate light-bulb moment.

And it turned him into what he is today - a budding Spielberg with a world of opportunity at his feet.

The Role:

As Research and Support Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution.

You'll play a key role in preparing crucial research for the Lord Mayor and help ensure the smooth running of the Lord Mayor's Office.

You'll carry out research as directed by the Lord Mayor and prepare detailed, accurate briefing notes from your work. You'll also draft speeches, engagement briefs and meeting briefs while liaising with other council members to inform briefing papers.

On top of this, you'll help deliver events for the Lord Mayor's Office, providing occasional on-site support, managing bookings for the reception room and carrying out general administrative tasks when needed.

Working with us is a chance to build a strong relationship with each Lord Mayor, helping them serve their role as First Citizen of Westminster to the fullest, while in turn helping us reach our 'City for All' objective, where all our residents can live in a borough that enriches their lives and helps them fulfil their potential.

Please refer to the
Job Description for more information.

About You:

You'll need experience conducting background research and drafting briefing memos. You might also have some experience writing speeches or working for either a public figure or a high-profile organisation.

What We Offer:

Westminster is an amazing place.

We are home to more than 200,000 residents from all backgrounds, over 50,000 vibrant and vital businesses and three-quarters-of-a-million people work in Westminster.
