Job Introduction

We're seeking an enthusiastic and inquisitive person to work in our Financial Assessment and Charging Team on a fixed term basis.


You'll be part of a dynamic Finance Transactions Team, working closely with other services and building relationships across the city council and in other local authorities, government departments and partners.

You'll be responsible for the charging of financially assessed client contributions for Adult Social Care Services.


This is a fast-paced area where no two days are the same, providing lots of opportunities to deliver value for money and improve services for local residents.

Role Responsibilities

  • To provide a robust invoicing service for the council, by creating invoices for assessed contributions due from service users for residential and nonresidential adult social care services.
  • To manage deferred payment accounts, issue statements and invoices in line with policy and guidance, liaising with the council debt team, solicitors and service users.
  • To ensure invoices are accurate and issued in line with timescales, and to respond appropriately, sensitively and in a timely way to invoicing queries from service users or their financial representatives.
  • To work closely with financial assessment colleagues, and proactively resolve queries relating to invoices
  • To support service users and their financial representatives by providing clear and accurate information
  • To maintain the integrity of the charging systems, and support system testing, changes, and upgrades
  • Have a good level of education and able to demonstrate they have excellent customer service qualities.
  • Have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different groups, with the ability to be able to adapt their communication style to meet the needs of the customer
  • Have the ability to deal with complex customer queries often relating to vulnerable adults
  • Be able to prioritise to meet deadlines and work as part of a team, but also use their own initiative and work independently
  • Have excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Be able to cope and adapt to change
