We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as Financial Crime Intelligence and Investigations Consultant to join our Line 2 Financial Crime Team.

The role
The Financial Crime Team works to protect Phoenix Group and or customers from the risk of financial crime


We cover:

  • Antimoney laundering & terrorist financing
  • Sanctions
  • Fraud (internal & external)
  • Facilitation of tax evasion
We prevent, detect, investigate and resolve financial crime incidents by:

  • Setting policies, procedures and controls
  • Gathering and analysing intelligence
  • Conducting investigations
  • Providing training and awareness
  • Oversight of OSP financial crime teams, and our retained business
As a Financial Crime Intelligence and Investigations Consultant your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop intelligence and undertake investigations into suspected criminal activity, developing best practice within the process.
  • Use the data available within the Phoenix Group to develop techniques and systems to improve financial crime detection utilising trends within management information to determine if customer monitoring is effective.
  • Evaluate the source of escalations from first line and OSPs to determine if systematic monitoring is effective and provide guidance for its improvement
  • Complete investigations on and submit suspicious activity reports (SARs) to NCA within timescales detailed in the FC Policy.
  • Engage with all stakeholders to promote the awareness of financial crime prevention as a key regulatory requirement.
  • Document and maintain the Phoenix FCT processes for investigations and the intelligence standard.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of working in a Financial Crime team, law enforcement or similar is desirable.
  • Understanding of key legislation.
  • Proven analytical skills and judgement and reasoning ability.
  • Knowledge of i2/ibase (including creating queries, production of reports and MI) is desirable
  • Strong Organisation and planning skills with the ability to manage and priorities tasks.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision and be selfdirecting, including the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of delivering change/project activity
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to develop positive and sustainable working relationships with the broad range of individuals and groups.
