Salary:25,702
to 27,938** per annum (dependent on skills and experience).
Allowances:
A Specialist Allowance of up to 2,000 per annum is also available for this role.

A vacancy exists for a Mechanical Support Technician in the ISIS Mechanical Engineering Section, which is part of the ISIS Accelerator Division.
You will be based in the main workshop and also work in all areas of the ISIS accelerator and extraction beam lines.
Your role will be to assist in the manufacture and installation of components and assemblies required to ensure the accelerator remains working.
Responsibilities:
- To produce high quality machining work (including turning and milling) to close tolerances working to sketches, engineering drawings and verbal instructions as appropriate
- Produce appropriate jigs and fittings as necessary
- To be responsible for a given area of work associated with the build, assembly, modification and installation of new projects connected with the ISIS accelerator
- Repair and maintenance of a wide range of installed components for a given area of the Accelerator. Including a wide and diverse range of magnets, diagnostic monitors, ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) and radio frequency (RF) acceleration systems. Training willbe provided where necessary
- To be responsible, for given areas of work and for the work of others including apprentices
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining safe and efficient working arrangements for yourself and for any staff working under your control.?
Personal Skills and Attributes:
You will be expected to have experience in:
- Recognised formal training, e.g. a full apprenticeship, which may include up to three years full time study
- You must possess experience of producing high quality machined and assembled components
- The use of initiative and a flexible and innovative approach to problem solving is required
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills are essential together with the ability to communicate effectively on technical issues with staff and facility users at all levels
- Experience of leading the work of others, including contractors and apprentices
- You should also be computer literate and be able to demonstrate use of Microsoft office software products.
