*£37,744 to £42,631 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £37,744 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £42,631 will be via incremental progression.

*Location: Vacancies are for multiple sites across the MPS*We are looking for talented, enthusiastic individuals to undertake digital forensic examinations on a variety of digital devices; supporting the MPS' mission to keep London safe. Examining devices, such as mobile phones or computers, to help officers further their investigations, your impact will be felt on a daily basis.


The role is rotational between the Digital Forensic Hubs which are situated across the MPS estate meaning a wide variety of knowledge and experience can be gained every day.

DF Technicians complete their initial training at Lambeth HQ prior to be posted to a Hub.

Rotations are released every 6 months with at least 4 weeks' notice.

You will not necessarily move location every 6 months, you can be posted to the same location for a number of rotations.

Whilst individual preferences are taken into account when arranging rotations, operational need takes precedence.

*Duties include but are not limited to;

  • Forensic imaging, extraction and analysis of data from digital devices, including mobile devices, computers, and storage media
  • Supporting nontechnical staff, including police officers, to operate digital forensic systems
  • Quality assuring/peer reviewing casework
  • Provision of evidence viewing capabilities for investigating officers
  • Answering technical queries from nontechnical staff and police officers
  • Supporting colleagues within the Hub with queries and advice
  • Court appearance as witness of fact.

Training will be full time between 9am and 5pm at Lambeth HQ for approximately 6 months, due to this, it will not be possible to support flexible working patterns during this time.

Once competent we will consider all reasonable requests including agile working of up to 20% of your working week dependent on line manager support and operational delivery.
