Vitae Financial Recruitment are proud to be supporting Noah Enterprise in their search from a Head of Finance and Operations.


NOAH is a charity that helps people experiencing homelessness, extreme poverty, and other disadvantages to make positive changes in their lives.

We do this by providing care and advice services, training and wellbeing workshops, and opportunities for employment.

This is a pivotal role sitting on the Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO to ensure the Charity continues to deliver into the future, key services that support those experiencing poverty and other disadvantages make positive changes in their lives through a number of social enterprises and vocational training programmes designed to help with accommodation and employment.


Summary of the role:


Oversee a small team to provide financial governance, control, planning and analysis for the Charity, business-partnering with SMT colleagues and the Treasurer.

Ensure the smooth running and ongoing development of the Charity's operational functions through management of staff, and outsourcing. Operational functions include IT, facilities, health & safety, and quality management.

General

  • Contributing to the success the Charity, through active membership of the senior management team, and supportive management of finance and operations staff.
  • Providing businesspartnering support to senior colleagues, maintaining strong working relationships and an excellent understanding of the business.
  • Act as a representative of NOAH Enterprise always and in a manner befitting the organisation.
Finance

  • Effective financial planning and analysis to support ongoing strategic and business development.
  • Coordinate, and provide reporting and analysis for, the Finance Subcommittee of the Board.
  • Oversight of the annual financial audit, Trustees Annual Report, Charity Commission / Companies House reporting, VAT returns and taxation.
  • Delivery of budgets, forecasts, statutory accounts, cash flow reporting, and project / contract related financial reporting.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance and sustainability by maintaining effective finance controls and policies, and proactive income risk processes.
  • Oversight of accounting functions including management reporting, accounts payable / receivable, asset management, and payroll (currently outsourced).
Operations

  • Oversee strategic risk management and quality for health & safety, facilities, and information governance matters, assuring compliance with legislation and codes of practice, ensuring the maintenance of effective controls and policies.
  • Linemanage the designated ISO Quality Manager to oversee and develop the quality assurance framework and internal audit.
  • Ensure that effective IT, technology, and systems support (currently outsourced) is provided to meet evolving business needs.

What we are looking for:

  • Ideally CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified accountant / Qualified by Experience considered.
  • You must have previous linemanagement experience.
  • Previous experience of SORP accounting would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
  • Must be willing and able to spend at least 3 days per week onsite (Luton).
  • Strategic mindset with aptitude for asking the right questions, providing meaningful analysis, and communicating with nonfinancial professionals.
  • Excellent IT literacy: proficient with Microsoft Excel, skilled with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Word, and good understanding of Microsoft Windows platform.
