Page Personnel is partnering with a retail business based in Portsmouth who are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their accountancy team on a full time permanent basis.


Client Details
Our client is a successful retail business who have seen rapid growth in the past 12 months.

They are based in Portsmouth and do require travel to their offices but do also offer a hybrid model of working.


Description
As the Assistant Accountant you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the retail finance team as required in weekly and period end tasks, including preparation & posting of journals, bridge analysis concentrating on but not limited to opex, stock and delivery charges.
  • Building and maintaining a business partnership with non finance colleagues providing information and analysis to assist in delivery of their requirements.
  • Being the lead expert on operating expenses, stock & delivery charges proactively analysing and understanding the end to end process in order to add value and opinion.
  • Support the budgeting and forecast process.
  • Support finance training and presentations to nonfinance colleagues
  • Accurate and timely creation of reports as required
  • Ownership for the stock reconciliation of the food retail business.
  • Accurate & timely collation of weekly sales figures for internal and external parties
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations of specific account codes as directed.
  • Assist with completion of interim and final audit tasks

Profile
To be successful for the Assistant Account role, you must:

  • Team player and proven communication skills with the personal credibility to work with non-financial colleagues at all levels
  • High levels of accuracy coupled with personal flexibility with the ability to operate to tight period end deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of excel supported by generally high levels of IT literacy with ability to manipulate data, identify trends and produce summary information
  • Ability to influence stakeholders using technical and practical knowledge/experience
  • Experience of working within a finance department proven ability of management accounts, accruals, prepayments & analysis
  • CIMA Studier, with desire to progress and continue with professional qualifications

Job Offer
**Salary £25,000 - £29,000
