Overall purpose of the role:
Originate and provide structuring expertise in bespoke and vanilla physical commodities transactions (e.g. metals and carbon) such as physical inventory monetization, repos, prepayments and derivatives.


Main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the offering and development of bespoke and vanilla physical commodities transactions, e.g. working capital solutions including amongst others commodity repo financing, prepayments and physical inventory monetisation
  • Originate, develop and manage new transactions and onboard new customers: commercial negotiation, coordinate legal documentation and coordinate execution
  • Liaise with Account Managers and Relationship Managers in other areas of the Bank regarding cross selling opportunities.
  • Organize efficient commercial and credit approval processes, including applicable risk policies and necessary changes (GMC risk mandate)
  • Coordinate the efficient execution of transactions with all relevant stakeholders. Ensure transaction execution meets client and Natixis requirements, notably with regards to providing timely and professional pricing and ethical execution of transactions.
  • Maintain full compliance with all rules and regulations impacting GMC and/or Natixis (Volcker, EMIR, MIFID etc)

Strategy & Business Planning

  • Helps to establish and deliver the strategy for physical commodities transactions and working capital solutions within the GMC business
  • Contribute to the growth strategy for this business
  • Support and contribute to the sustainability agenda of Natixis and GMC
  • Maintain awareness of all economic and financial data and any other important factors (e.g. fiscal changes) likely to affect the client base and products being marketed.
  • Contribute to marketing strategies; create business plans, relating these to marketing opportunities; draw up budgets and forecasts; report on variances

Financial Performance
Aim to maximise long term revenues and control costs within the context of the GMC business line strategy

Key skills

  • Working practice in a commodities structuring / financing role
  • Good understanding of clients and client needs
  • Physical commodity storage and logistics knowledge
  • Exposure and pricing experience in a broad set of commodities underlyings (precious & base metals, carbon)

  • Extremely rigorous and reliable, especially on deals pricing and book risk management and P&L production
  • Good resistance to stress and pressure
