Description
Be Bold, Be Brilliant, Be Birmingham

Do you want to work in role that's committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our global citizens as they age?

Are you a registered public health professional who thrives on innovation, co-production and collaboration with community organisations, NHS partners and social care?

Are you excited about working in England's second city, embracing the diversity and creativity of Birmingham?
If these questions intrigue or inspire you then we'd love to hear from you.

Our public health team has grown from strength to strength and is at the heart of our strategic thinking, both as a Council and as a city.

We work as a team and that team doesn't stop at the walls of our office.

It stretches far out into Birmingham's many different communities, working closely with our faith, academic, NHS, police and private sector partners.

This role is about leading strategically and collaboratively to define and refine our approach to working age adults and older adults.

In a city where health and wealth are directly connected there is huge potential to shape a new approach to workplace health and tackling health related unemployment.

We oversee key mandated public health functions like sexual health services and NHS health checks. We also enable and empower important community collaborations such as Compassionate Cities.

Partnership and collaboration will be key skills as you work with the NHS and Adult Social Care teams to bring the vision of integrated care to life and maximise the potential of pathways for prevention and social prescribing.

As an ethnically, and culturally diverse global city, we're home to people of all abilities and disabilities, and we have a vibrant LGBTQ+ community.

We believe in curious and compassionate leadership that considers diversity and inclusion at every stage of a project.

This means taking active steps to be inclusive and supportive of your team - being actively anti-discrimination and helping them to be strong advocates and allies, both to each other and in their work.

Part of our commitment to training and development is to ensure our senior officers nurture and inspire colleagues, including our pipeline of student and graduate interns as they navigate the world of public health for the first time.

That commitment extends to you too - senior officers in the Council can expect our support in their personal development.

We want you to be brilliant and bold so you can give your best to our city and our citizens.
