MTS is currently looking for an

Accountants Assistant to work from

its London headquarters, situated at 65 Westcroft Square, London, on a 12-months fixed term contract basis.

Job Details:


  • Full-Time (Mon-Fri, 9am5pm, 35hour working week)
  • Salary: £23,000 to £27,000 p.a. including London weighting, according to experience and skills
  • Role type: Fixedterm (12 months), with high likelihood of making permanent after first year
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Start date: ASAP (from January new year, new job
  • Reporting To: Finance Manager

Main Responsibilities:


  • Take ownership of a company's purchase and sales ledgers and assisting with monthend processes.
  • Record financial transactions in accounting software, including invoices, expenses, and payments.
  • Process all timesheet/payclaims from all casual staff and support the associated monthly payroll processes.
  • Coordinate accounts, including bank statements and other financial records to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, certifying that bills are paid in a timely manner, and invoices are sent out prior to deadlines.
  • Aid with month end responsibilities and financial reporting, in the form of the preparation of financial reports for profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
  • Deal directly with customers and handling queries relating to invoices and other accounting issues.
  • Aid with VAT return filing and year end closures.

Person Specification:


  • Diploma/Degree in Accounting / Finance or any related field (essential)
  • A minimum of 12 months of experience in similar role (either in industry or in an accountancy practice) (essential)
  • Completed or pursuing AAT Level 3 or higher or equivalent accountancy or bookkeeping professional qualification (desirable)
  • Advanced Excel skills and willingness to share skills with colleagues.
  • Confident in bringing in new, professional financial processes internally, and challenging existing assumptions and ways of working.
  • Working knowledge of accountancy software (any major package, eg Sage, Quickbooks, Xero) (Xero highly desirable)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Absolute commitment to confidentiality and duty of care
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to use data to drive improvements
  • Quick learner and has strong adaptable skills
  • Excellent professional and interpersonal skills
  • Must have right to work in the UK status
