Working as the Head of Health and Safety, you'll be reporting to the UK H&S Director at ScottishPower.

The main purpose of the role is to support the implementation of the agreed SP H&S strategy, policy, and procedures across the whole of SP Group including the corporate area.


What you'll be doing
As part of the senior leadership team, you'll provide the corporate area with H&S leadership, professional advice and direction.

Supporting the creation of ScottishPower Group wide policy and procedures and facilitate integration across the various operational business areas at all levels.


We will look for you to support and promote H&S operational excellence across all areas and help achieve world-class H&S performance working in partnership with operational management; employee representatives; contractors, and key stakeholders - e.g., unions, customers, regulators etc.


Although the H&S budget is held and managed by the UK Director of H&S, you'll be asked to manage the annual budget process and to meet agreed targets, monitor SP H&S headcount and provide policy, procedural and administrative advice services to the businesses, delivered via the H&S Shared Service team.

Being able to offer a constructive contribution to the development and successful implementation of overall SP H&S strategy, policy, procedures and plans across the whole SP Group.


In this role you'll have oversight of SP contractor activities, performance, monitoring and compliance, SP H&S risk registers and priorities.

You will help manage and organise H&S governance standards, processes and forums, in-line with SP requirements. Monitor and audit compliance with SP Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules processes, procedures, and standards across Scottish Power.

Once in post you'll be able to assess, prioritise and deliver an H&S IT Strategy and programme of work, positively influencing H&S performance, efficiency and effectiveness across SP.


What you'll bring

Bringing significant managerial experience, which includes leading teams of professional staff and/or practitioners you'll be able to make a real positive impact to the team.

Ideally, you should have had experience and/or responsibilities for H&S management at operational and strategic levels within a large complex organisation.

Along with being educated to degree level and/or professionally qualified in H&S, engineering, or relevant associated discipline, you'll also be a Chartered Membership of IOSH or be working towards this status.


You can independently work through complex technical or legislative issues, formulate solutions or options, and recommend the appropriate course of action.

Ideally if you have experience of working in an IT technical role within a large or H&S environment, that would be beneficial.

As we are looking for an individual that can bring prior experience/working knowledge of using and embedding a variety of systems, understand date reporting, and can can easily translate across to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
