We are recruiting an EHE Advisor who will work with parents/carers and schools to ensure that decisions to electively home educate are well informed and that parents are delivering an appropriate education for their child which enables them to achieve and access their chosen path at post 16.


About the role
The EHE Advisors will be based across Scarborough/Ryedale/Whitby. Travel across the county will sometimes be required. In this role, you will be responsible for (but not limited to)

  • Assess, advise and promote the development of EHE children's education through partnership with parents of school age children with the full range of abilities including any SEN's
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Ensure strong communication framework at locality level for individual parents/carers and children and young people to ensure feedback influences practice and development of services and provision
  • Use a Multi-Disciplinary approach to fulfil the Local Authority's statutory duty to ensure no child is missing in education
  • Work alongside Attendance & Enforcement Officers to pursue legal intervention where education is not suitable

About you


You must be able to evidence experience of negotiating and influencing competently and appropriately to secure positive outcomes for hard to reach and vulnerable children.

You will have a good understanding of the National curriculum, quality first teaching and attainment measures for children of school age.


It is essential you can demonstrate recent successful experience of working with children and young people in education with the full range of abilities including SEN.

It is vital that you possess the desire, passion and motivation to work with families and have good emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.
