Requirements:

As a Night Porter you will be expected to
- security of building guests
- setting up restaurant for breakfast

  • Cleaning all public areas.
  • Taking telephone calls
  • Must be customer service focused
We are looking for someone who is able to work between the hours of 10.30pm and 07.00am approx.

Your duties will include keeping the outside and public areas of the hotel clean and tidy as well as preparing for the following day's events.

This will include setting tables, tidying and general maintenance as well as any guests needs throughout the night.


The ideal person will have at least 1 years' experience in customer service or hotels, in a similar position and will have the ability to deliver great service to our guests.


We are looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality, that is reliable and willing to learn as part of this growing team.


Duties will include:

  • To complete statutory fire and security checks.
  • To provide room service, preparing and serving food to Company standards.
  • Complete daily hand over procedures in an efficient and responsible manner.
  • Ensure al corridors are clear; fire extinguishers and fire doors are secure whilst conducting safety floor checks during the night.
  • Cleaning Tasks to a high standard

About Us
Built in the early 1900s, the 83-bedroom Caledonian Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the area. It still boasts a quiet, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and pleasant gardens.

The Hotel overlooks Ullapool's working harbour and the colourful fishing boats on Loch Broom.

To the right of the hotel is the Fowler Memorial Clock - said to be the most photographed clock in the Highlands.

It was first erected in 1899 in memory of Sir John Arthur Fowler and his family who lived at Braemore House near Corrieshalloch Gorge.

However, to help reduce traffic congestion, it was moved to its new home in West Argyle Street in the 1960s.


Thanks to its central location in the town of Ullapool and modern comforts, The Caledonian Hotel is perfect for both the business and leisure traveller.
