You could be looking for more responsibility or autonomy offered by working in a smaller but growing audit team perhaps compared to some of the much bigger banks where there is more bureaucracy and less ability to make an impact both in the function and within the company.

This is a hands-on role and a great way to learn as you will be mentored by both an experienced Head of Audit and his managers.

Progression doesn't depend on anyone moving on, you will be able to move through various grades by just demonstrating your abilities to operate at that level.


Although not formally a "challenger" bank, this bank which has been established for many years, has in the last few years grown exponentially under a new Management team.

Reflecting the business growth, the Internal Audit team has similarly grown and, now would be an excellent time to join.

I have placed most of the team over the years and everyone enjoys working for this organisation, both because of the broad scope of the audit work but because of the almost 'family' atmosphere where even the most junior team members have access to the most senior Executives.
