Salary:

£24,771 per annum, pro-rated to £5,970.32 per annum, for 10 hours per week over 45.24 weeks over 12 equal monthly payments.


The role The role**:


Southwark Council currently have vacancies for School Crossing Patrol Officers at multiple locations throughout the borough, to help children and vulnerable adults cross the road.

Responsible for crossing children and other pedestrians, in all weather conditions, at authorized crossing locations outside Southwark Schools in accordance with Southwark Council's and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents requirements


You will need to be able to work 1 hour in the morning and afternoon during school term time (10 hours per week).


This role requires you to communicate well with both children and adults, whilst demonstrating correct and safe behaviour when crossing the road at all times.

  • Happy working outdoors in all weather
  • Able to work with both adults and children
  • Good understanding of road safety

Further Information:


  • Monday to Friday 08:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 16:00 during school term. Total of 10 hours a week).
  • The salary displayed will be prorata, which means you will only be paid for the hours you work.
  • Holiday leave must be taken outside of termtime dates.
  • You will be working outdoors in all weathers, standing for the duration of your shift and will need to carry the crossing sign at intervals.
  • Full training and a uniform provided.
  • The post holder will be expected to do some training during school holidays but would be notified in good time of this.
  • Permanent contract
  • Enhanced DBS check is required
