Casual - Student Guide

Rate of Pay:

NLW £11.44 per hour plus 12.07% accrued holiday per total value
Working Hours: Part-Time 15 Hours Maximum per week
Duration: 9th September th October 2024 (Successful applicants must be able to attend training sessions beforehand)- Availability required also: 18th January nd February 2025

Main duties & responsibilities:


  • Social Programme / Trips
  • Participating in; sports activities, social events, delivering presentations, walking tours on day trips, and generally helping new students feel welcome.
  • Welcome / Information Desk
  • Assisting with; campus tours and town tour, directing students where to go, checking they have the correct documents for administrative procedures, signing students up to trips, giving information on local amenities, and the Registration process (i.e. queue management and meet and greet).
  • Airport Pick Up / Arrivals
  • Meeting and greeting students and families. Helping on their journey to UH and to their accommodation. Transport to and from the airport will be provided. The role may involve physical tasks i.e. to drag or carry heavy luggage.
  • Community Work/ Off and On Campus Community Projects
  • Supporting the running of ongoing and new projects i.e. Allotment's on College Lane, Community Garden, as well as being a student voice at our Community Forum.
  • Various duties and responsibilities depending on the team allocated.

Skills/Qualifications Required:


  • The ability to work unsupervised and speak confidently with empathy to support students if the need arises during a shift.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Previous IT/Helpdesk experience is required
