Role responsibilities


As Route Controller you will be responsible for the provision of rolling stock in accordance with the requirements of the timetable.


This will include but not be limited to:

  • Coordination of the delivery of the train fleet to depots and other agreed locations for maintenance, exam and repair to agreed timescales.
  • Management of unit defects/failures in traffic and coordinating the response of fitting staff in liaison with maintenance controllers and depots etc.
  • Arranging set swaps/replacement units as required and communicating with all parties involved.
  • Real time monitoring of train running in designated area(s).

_Essential requirements to be considered for this role: _

  • Proven knowledge of Railway operating procedures
  • Ability to problem solve efficiently and work in a highpressurised environment
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to effectively influence and negotiate
  • Whilst it is not essential, knowledge of Railway industry IT systems is desirable

Welsh Language Skills
