Healthcare Assistant - Ultrasound

To work in central Cardiff hospitals

Salary £24,000 (pro rata) based on days worked

Up to 12 days per month, Monday - Friday, plus evenings or weekends. Pre arranged rota. Initially starting up to 3 days per week between Monday - Friday at Cardiff Royal Infirmary.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:


To work in central Cardiff at any of the following NHS hospitals; Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Llandough Hospital, University Hospital Wales.

You will be supporting our sonographers during clinics, as well as administration support to the office team.

Previous experience in a similar role is essential as well as the flexibility to move between clinics on different days.

Full driving license and own car are essential.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To work within outpatient NHS non obstetric ultrasound clinics within Central Cardiff.
  • Setting up ultrasound machine ready for sonographers to carry out scans. (Full training to be provided).
  • To carry out routine duties as instructed by and under supervision of MediServices staff and sonographers.
  • Ensure all required consumables are present such as bed roll, alcohol wipes, alcohol gel, ultrasound gel before each clinic.
  • Cleaning and preparing machines in adherence to Health & Safety Procedures.
  • To act as a supporting member of staff during a clinic ensuring sonographers have all required consumables for each test.
  • Acting as chaperone for all scans.
  • To provide emotional support for patients and their carers.
  • To promote the dignity of patients and understand confidentiality and GDPR requirements.
  • Liaise with hospital reception staff.
  • To meet and greet patients attending for an appointment, contacting late attenders.
  • To upload images from ultrasound machine to the cloud. (Full training to be provided).
  • Comply with organisational policies and procedures at all times.
  • Undertake appropriate training and development activities to meet the requirements of the post.

  • Competent use of Microsoft office and bespoke IT systems.
