    Job description:


    This role will be to support the Category team manage the final stages of the Functional Assessment Service (FAS) procurement (the contracts which will replace the existing Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and the Health and Disability Assessment Services (HDAS) contracts), through transition to the new contracts, and enabling successful exit management from existing contracts, whilst maintaining effective business as usual activities.


    The post holder will work within the current Health Category team which is fast paced, and your role's overriding responsibility is to support the management of commercial exit and transition activity.

    This includes working with a wide range of internal stakeholders and supplier performance and relationship management teams.

    You will be required to communicate and lead discussions with key stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure information collected is up to date, accurate and helps ensure senior managers are able to make informed decisions that affect the category.

    The post holder will support their respective line managers in all the necessary commercial activity.

    The post is challenging, it requires pro-active and innovative thinking, with good communication skills and an outgoing and enthusiastic approach to challenges.

    The post holder will be required to take on commercial management responsibilities for existing or new contracts.

    Person specification:

    The roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

    Contract Management

    • Applies Contract Management best practice
    • Applies and advises others on contract management processes
    • A deep understanding of the terms and conditions of the contract
    • Agrees and clarifies contract management responsibilities with stakeholders
    • Evaluates and monitors the performance of suppliers in conjunction with wider performance management teams
    • Identifies and manages where changes in the contract are required ensuring change management processes are followed
    • Create positive supplier and stakeholders relationships, encouraging innovation, creation of "value add" solutions, and a strong customer service ethic.
    • Identify and mitigate commercial risks, maintaining a risk management plan, managing, and escalating any significant risks.

    Stakeholder Management / Engagement / Communication

    • Works with stakeholders at all levels (internal and external) to develop strategy and tactics for procurement category initiatives.
    • Engage with wider commercial / Finance group colleagues beyond the immediate team, building relationships and knowledge of the DWP Health and Commercial environments.
    • Effectively communicate using both verbal and written formats, with the ability to draft high quality documents and communications for diverse audiences, and where appropriate influence stakeholders and customers to achieve commercially desirable outcomes.
