Weekend Cook

Location:
The Chesters Care Home
, Low Fell, Gateshead

Salary:
£11.00 per hour

Contract:
Part Time - permanent position

Hours:15 per week - 7:30am - 3:30pm (with some flexibility around start and finish times)

Weekend Cook - Duties:

To prepare and cook a balanced, nutritious diet to the required high standards within a controlled hygienic environment.
To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage.
To assess stock levels and accurately order provisions.
To ensure that any other staff involved in food preparation and cooking are aware of the correct procedures to follow and of the need to complete appropriate paperwork.
To ensure the kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times following a comprehensive cleaning schedule.
To ensure all Clients are provided with a variety of choices on the daily menu with consideration to their stated personal preferences.

Weekend Cook - Experience, qualifications & skills:

Genuine interest in managing all aspects of a busy kitchen
Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved/working towards)
Previous cooking and kitchen management experience
Satisfactory DBS Check and references
An understanding of food hygiene and experience of meeting environmental health inspection criteria

Weekend Cook - Main Responsibilities:

Control stock levels and make purchases as required, whilst endeavouring to minimise wastage.
Ensure that client's are provided with a balanced diet and varied menus that are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
Be aware of the Clients' needs and dietary preferences and respond to any comments or requests made by Clients in respect of the menu.
To prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
Ensure that the kitchen is cleaned after use and at the end of each shift leaving it in a clean and hygienic state at all times in accordance with the kitchen cleaning schedule.
To be involved with the preparation and serving of all meals.
To hold a suitable, valid food and hygiene certificate.
