Position within the organization:


  • Reports to the Security Supervisor
  • Supports the Security Team Service Delivery

Key Purpose:


Working within the Control Room at the Newark campus, the Controller is solely responsible for Proactive and Reactive CCTV management throughout the campus.

Also monitoring and responding to all alarm notifications, responding to telephone and radio messages to 'Live' monitor high risk areas and real time incidents on campus and review CCTV recordings to conduct investigations.


The Controller will support the Security Supervisor in ensuring all daily routines and deployments are completed in line with Site Instructions and Client requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To control and manage all alerts created by the campus CCTV in accordance with roles and responsibilities and training documents.
  • Proactively conduct CCTV monitoring & complete investigations at the client's request within agreed timescales.
  • Proactively respond to all noncritical CCTV alarms within Agreed KPI targets following processes identified within training document.
  • Using CCTV system to identify suspicious activity or behaviour that would cause either a security or H&S concern.
  • Carry out 'Proactive' CCTV monitoring across the campus identifying high risk areas as identified via the business or intelligence reporting, reporting any concerns to the Security Supervisor
  • To manage and support the Security supervisor in the management of any 'Live' incidents on site.
  • Ensure all Security Equipment and Systems are regularly checked and tested to ensure maximum operational effectiveness and any deficiencies are reported.
  • Ensure all incidents that occur or affect the campus are logged and managed effectively through to completion on the Synapse App.
  • Ensure that all requests comply with DCG Governance and GDPR upon receipt of request and despatch of footage.
  • Maintain the CCTV "destruction" process in line with all relevant policies and processes.
  • Handle all day to day enquiries which arise from whatever source in respect of the daily Security operation.
  • Develop and maintain good working relations with client management teams, external agencies, visitors and mcontractors to the site.
  • Support the Security Administrator in the of submission of a monthly, weekly, daily reports relating to all Security activities.
  • Using IT Systems to complete reports and documents to include weekly CCTV Audit paperwork.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request from Security Supervisor, Depot Loss Prevention Manager or the client.

Experience and Key Competencies:


  • Demonstrable experience of delivering a high quality of customer service through a team.
  • Knowledge of DCG Governance and GDPR
  • Knowledge of Security Operations and CCTV Operation/Procedures.
  • Good understanding of KPI's
  • Ability to negotiate and to create good working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Ability to generate and maintain customer confidence in you as an individual and in the team.
  • Computer literate, ability to use Word and Excel; good keyboard skills; experience of using a range of software.
  • Hold a current SIA Licence either Security Guarding or Door Supervisor.
