This role is Fixed term co-terminus with Mayor of the West Midlands term of office


We are looking for a politically astute, hard working and dedicated person to join the small Mayoral team in the West Midlands Combined Authority.

You'll be responsible for supporting the team deliver and will be given some projects of your own to get your teeth into, other duties outlined below:


  • Support, manage, coordinate and maintain calendars for the Mayoral Team including meetings, appointments and records in accordance with preset priorities, deadlines and requests
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements and associated expenses for the Mayoral Team as appropriate and in line with WMCA policy
  • Support the Mayoral Team through the development and review of the team action planner
  • Undertake relevant research on topics and issues when required
  • Assist the team in producing and developing presentations, reports and other materials as required
  • Create and circulate accurate and concise notes of meetings
  • Support the Mayoral Team and WMCA Communications Team in creating and hosting events
  • Manage and Provide cover for the Mayoral Office Coordinator during periods of planned and unplanned leave
  • Support the Mayoral Office Coordinator when required to ensure the Mayor can fulfil his duties to the highest possible standards
  • Work with other employees in line with best practice and WMCA employment policies
  • Ensure all job activities are carried out in a costeffective manner and deliver value for money
  • Work as a team and focus fully on the Mayor's remit and there may be a requirement to work outside normal office hours on occasion to meet work deadlines, attend meetings etc.
