Description

The Casting Technician reports to the Refinery Team Leader and is accountable and responsible for ensuring that both the 25 and 50kg moulding machines are operating correctly and set up ready for the moulding team to mould.

All CILs and allocated PPMs are completed._


Roles & responsibilities:


  • Maintain the 25 and 50kg moulding machines, carry out any routine CIL and PPM that are required.
  • Trouble shoot any issues arising, with guidance of the Refinery Team Leader
  • Ensure the moulding machine is set up and ready to run as per the product operating procedure for the moulding team.
  • Complete moulding machine prestart check sheet
  • Cover moulding team breaks as and when required to facilitate continuous moulding
  • Ensure full understanding of sample procedures and schedule.
  • To be constructive and proactive generating improvement ideas
  • Carry out general restoration of the casting machines to maintain a good aesthetic appearance.
  • Assist maintenance teams during planned maintenance days (Except shutdowns, unless agreed with the Engineering Manager).
  • Ensure current best practice is always used. Maintain standards of operational performance, housekeeping, HSE etc.


  • Ensure H&S equipment

  • Emergency stops, guarding, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, eye wash bottle's etc. are in good condition.
  • Liaise with Refinery Team Leader to rectify any problems that cannot be resolved.
  • Ensure the Refinery Team Leader is kept up to date with job status at appropriate times.
  • Report any incidents or accidents immediately to the Refinery Team Leader.
  • Undertake any duties allocated by the Deputy Site Coordinator or other senior managers as and when required.
  • Ensure all operational data is collected and presented in the correct format.
  • Ensure that any equipment, faults are reported promptly via the EAM system, to the Maintenance Team Leader and Refinery Team Leader

Qualifications & experience:


Essential:

  • Mechanical aptitude is essential
  • A strong understanding of the importance of and commitment towards upholding HSE compliance
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all employees at all levels within the company
  • Must have the ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult or conflicting situations
  • Ability to use your own initiative
