We have a fantastic opportunity for Full Time Permanent AMHP Social Worker at South Yorkshire Local Authority.


What is the role?


As an AMHP Social Worker you will be undertaking face to face Sec 117 MHA reviews, both within the Doncaster Borough and out of area placements.

You will be required to contribute to the overall request or decision as to whether the service user remainseligible for continuing section 117 funding.

You will also be expected to ensure that a CHC checklist / Decision Support tool have been completed where appropriate; the social care aspect of the review will include utilising the social care rescript documentationand will include the use of a creative conversation around Community based resources and assets in all cases.


What are your responsibilities?

  • To provide a social work service to meet the statutory responsibilities of the Council under legislation which includes MHA 1983 / MCA2005 / Care Act 2014 / Human Rights Act.
  • Adhere to the Social Work England standards of Professional Conduct and comply with local and national standards of practice.
  • Lead investigations for the most complex, high profile cases involving Sec 117 funding and review.
  • Be responsible for the supervision, management and appraisal of an agreed number of staff in accordance with the Council's supervision and appraisal policy
  • Ensure clear links and partnerships between Commissionaires and Social Care and Mental Health professionals and partner agencies in regard to the effective planning and review of Sec 117 support.
  • To ensure clear pathways for feedback and updates of information to Commissionaires. DMBC senior Managers and the CCG.
  • Encourage the use of common and standardised practice in line with policies, procedures, and good practice development.
  • To champion consistency within Sec 117 reviewing processes on a Borough wide basis to improve practice.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have a minimum of 3 Years AMHP Social Worker experience, ideally within the local authority.
  • Full UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Social Work Degree Qualification
  • Must also have Approved Mental Health Professional Qualification (AMHP).
  • Must have excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to service users, carers, and families, as well as other senior members of staff.
  • Valid Social Work England Registration
