  • The Cornwall Speech and Language Therapy service has an exciting new opportunity for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our Mid Cornwall Team_
  • This would be an excellent development opportunity for a Band 5 therapist looking for their next steps within the profession or an experienced therapist looking to expand their knowledge and skills working with children_
  • Although advertised as full time, a preference for part time would be considered and can be discussed_
  • This post is a varied position combining a community caseload with time as part of our new Request for Help Service._
  • The community caseload element involves working with preschool and school age children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. The postholder will guide, educate and work alongside parents/carers and other professionals to support children and young people within schools, preschools, homes and clinical settings. We are currently developing our pathways and processes, so it is an exciting time to contribute towards our service improvement_
  • Within the Request for Help service, the post holder will liaise with parents and professionals leading to signposting, provision of information and advice, or which may result in taking a referral into the service._
  • The post will be based at St Austell Community Hospital. This is a hub of other therapists with many opportunities for liaison and team working. It also lends itself to working from home for some of the week._

Main duties of the job:

The post holder will be required to participate in the delivery of a speech and language therapy service providing specialist assessments, intervention and advice for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs

  • Participate in the provision of a high standard, specialist Speech and Language Therapy service, providing specialist assessments, intervention and advice for children and young people including those with highly complex presentations.
  • To guide, educate and work alongside parents, carers and other professionals to support children and young people with speech, language, communication.
  • To participate in clinical governance and service development within the Speech and Language
Therapy teams in partnership with professional specialists, and other clinical leads.
