Description

The post holder will work together with members of the Nursing/Midwifery Team within the ward and contribute to the implementation of high standards for the area around infection prevention.

The post holder will communicate effectively with other members of the team and patients.


The role involves equipment cleaning, re-stocking of essential clinical items, tidying equipment/treatment rooms together with other specified tasks to meet the patient's needs, as determined by the manager and registered nurse.


The post holder will be required to work closely with the manager and registered nurse, raising any issues regarding quality standards with the registered nurse.

Clinical Duties

Working in a team under the direction of Registered Nurse clinical duties will include:

  • To assist in the delivery of quality and safe care of patients is by ensuring the environment and equipment are clean and maintained in accordance with Infection Control and Medical Devices Policies and Guidelines.
  • To assist the team in meeting patient's basic hygiene needs by ensuring that patient wash bowls are clean in line with Infection Control Guidelines and stocks of toothbrushes, combs etc. are maintained.
  • To ensure the ward is adequately stocked up with PPE,
  • To ensure all store rooms, treatment rooms and the dirty utility, remain clean, tidy, organized and well stocked.
  • To assist the ward team in meeting patients' basic elimination needs by ensuring commodes and raised toilet seats etc., are clean and maintained in line with Infection Control and Medical Device policies and Guidelines. That all bathroom and toilet areas are clean and free from clutter.
  • Rotate on cleaning of clinical areas including kitchen.
  • Ensure stores are unloaded and stored correctly.
8. you may be included in auditing the areas performance.

  • Helping staff to give out snacks to patients.
  • Assisting getting menus completed for meals.
