Job overview:


Main duties of the job:


The post holder will be responsible for the current use, and future vision of the Electronic Patient Record, and be its principle champion within the organisation, having to negotiate its implementation and use across a variety of diverse specialties.


This role will ensure that the deployment of all EPR products including Electronic Prescribing, Emergency Care Module, and Patient Administration System etc is planned and implemented effectively and in a controlled and planned way, in adherence to the Digital Services Change Request Policy.


Working for our organisation:


The post holder will be based at the QMC Hospital Campus however this role would suit hybrid working with a significant amount of time spent working from home.

There may be travel required across both campuses. This will be extended into the Community where Digital Services deliver services to our Community Health Colleagues. There will be some requirement to travel nationally to attend meetings and conferences.

The post holder will be expected to play an integral part in incident management and may be required to participate in an on-call rota, supporting the needs of the business.


Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

This role will sit within the Digital Products Management team and will work alongside both the Head and Deputy Head of Digital Products, the EPR Digital Matron and the EPR Programme Manager.

The post holder will also need to work alongside the wider organisation to understand requirements and strategic plans.


The Senior EPR Product Lead will work closely with a wide range of contacts and suppliers, to create, maintain and develop effective relationships both internally and externally, and be responsible for shaping the future of the Electronic Patient Record and how that applies to the Trust.

Training & Qualifications:


Essential criteria:


  • Educated to at least a masters degree level or have equivalent experience
  • ITIL Management Qualification

Desirable criteria:


  • A recognised professional qualification in management

Experience:


Essential criteria:


  • Working knowledge and experience of information flows within a large Acute Trust.
  • Proven experience of patient journeys and associated points of administrative/data capture functions.
  • Knowledge of the activity, roles and issues within a large acute teaching hospital

Desirable criteria:


  • Experience as a senior manager within an IT Delivery environment.

Communication and relationship skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to discuss complex Technical and Business information with medical, clinical and administration staff.
  • Able to build working relationships and networks with Trust staff and external organisations
  • Confident in attendance at Senior Trust Meetings and the ability to deliver presentations.
  • Able to motivate, lead, performance manage a team and be sensitive to staff undergoing changes in working practice.

Analytical and Judgement skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and make valid contributions to decision making at organisational level.
  • Ability to research, obtain and analyse complex data and distil information and all pertinent points and recommendations to managers and clinicians.
  • Able to monitor and manage the performance of a team of staff following the Trusts standards and guidance for appraisals.

Planning and organisation skills:


Essential criteria:


  • Experienced at planning effectively and managing own workload and that of others
  • Ability to manage differing and conflicting demands made on service delivery by management.

  • Requirement to work across NUH and the community. Undertaking senior management duties
