Minehead Hospital boasts state of the art facilities in a fabulous rural location.

We are situated on the coast in beautiful West Somerset, we offer excellent staff facilities including staff dining room with a South facing balcony, large free staff car park & modern changing facilities.

We are looking for a part time ward Administrator to work Saturday 08:00- 16:00 & Sunday 08:00-14:00. Development and training within this role will be offered.

  • Support Ward Manager and nursing staff in the daily running of the ward
  • Answer telephone to external and internal calls.
  • Meet and greet all visitors.
  • At nurse in charge request, arrange admissions, transfers, and discharge documentation.
  • Contact and liaise with doctors, staff from other departments, patients, visitors, and external organisations e.g., social workers, care homes.
  • Respond to enquiries from primary link and the bed hub on bed availability.
  • Taking details from primary link and the bed hub for admission/transfer and confirming admission date and time once accepted by the nurse in change.
  • Contact departments/companies e.g., specialist equipment hire (beds, mattresses, wheelchairs etc.)
  • Arrange OPAs during and post IP stay.
  • Expedite OPAs at doctor request, check referral letters have been sent or available for consultant to see in patients' notes, and that relevant notes/xrays have been requested.
  • Book transport admission, discharge, OPAs and transfer
  • Maintain patient notes are updated on RIO.
  • At nurse in charge request communicate and arrange with outside agencies regarding emergency blood samples.
  • Prepare admission packs. For all new admissions check any information is verified & up to date
  • Ensure all blood and other specimens/post are collected from the ward.
  • Gather information if pharmacy have a query and take to nurse charge.
  • Ensure all enquiries are responded to efficiently and effectively
