We are restructuring our people team and are looking for the right person to take a leading role in the development of our employees.

This is a generalist position, and you will have plenty of opportunity to get involved in everything we do, however there will be a particular emphasis on recruitment and L&D.


You will be based in our head office in Newcastle (NE13), and there will be occasional travel to our depots in Leeds, Haydock, Keswick, Birmingham, and Nottingham.

With 150 employees, you will have a high-profile role with the ability to instigate and implement change projects. Nothing is off the agenda, if you can bring improvements, we are all ears.

Main Responsibilities

Recruitment/Onboarding

  • Liaise with Managers to ensure the smooth recruitment process from interview to start date.
  • Ensure all right to work documents and new starter documentation is completed, uploaded to the HR system, and shared with Payroll.
  • Creation, monitoring and return of induction training plans.
  • Liaise with all new starters to ensure all uniform, PPE and any IT equipment required for the role has been ordered/arranged and ready for day one.

Learning & Development

  • Manage the onboarding process, implementing improvements when identified.
  • Implement and oversee a development course for employees with potential to move into management and further their careers with us.
  • Identify any skill gaps and deliver the right intervention.

Generalist

  • Work closely with managers providing advice and guidance on policies, procedures, legislation, and best practice. This is a very handson role so being able to build relationships with management is key.
  • You will oversee ER cases such as sickness absence, performance management and general workplace relations.
  • Work with departmental teams to identify opportunities to create a great place to work for all.

Experience

  • Has previous Senior/HR Advisor experience gained within a busy and hands on role.
  • You will be confident with running your own ER cases.
  • Have the ability to analyse HR data, pick out concerns/ trends and feed this back to the business.
  • Be great at building relationship and is a real people person.
  • Experience of working with a HRIS system, preferably PeopleHR.
  • CIPD qualified/Part qualified or working towards the qualification.
  • A full, valid driving licence is essential.
This is a full time (37.5 hrs) Mon. - Fri. position with a salary of up to £29,000.
