SUMMARY


Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, responsible on a shift-rota basis for the safe, operation and environmental performance of the plant and security of the site.


Ensuring the plant is operated with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, whilst maximising availability, reliability, efficiency and ensuring the plant is dispatching in consultation with the heat supply agreement and the PPA arrangements.


Responsible for ensuring the release of plant is made in line with agreed planning schedule and the sites safety rules.


Provide overall supervision and development of the shift team, to ensure team and individual development, safe generation and environmental performance of the site.

Organising and participating in housekeeping and plant cleaning activities.


Responsible for delivery, using 'on-shift' resources, of the planned and reactive first line maintenance, operational routines and testing requirements, to achieve availability and reliability targets required.

Ensure adherence with and the review/development of all site operations procedures and management instructions.

Undertake the role of the O&M Manager from time to time, as per delegated authority

Carry out other such responsibilities and duties commensurate with the position as required by the company.

Some occasional and ad-hoc national and international travel may be required

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible on a shiftrota basis for the safe, operation and environmental performance of the plant and security of the site. Senior person on site during outofhours.
  • Ensure the plant is operated with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, whilst maximising availability, reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure the plant is dispatched in consultation with PPA/DNO to fulfil system operator and PPA arrangements. Similarly, heat delivery to Macallan Distillery.
  • Accountable for adopting and enacting role(s) within the site safety rules, including the isolation of Mechanical Plant and Electrical Apparatus and associated HV switching up to 33kV.
  • Responsible for ensuring the plant is released for maintenance/routines, in line with the agreed planning schedule and the sites safety rules.
  • Provide overall supervision and development of the shift team, including managing individual and team performance to ensure safe generation and environmental performance of the site.
  • Responsible for delivery, using 'onshift' resources, of the planned and first line maintenance, operational routines and testing requirements.
  • Maintain a shift core balance of trade disciplines, including known cover requirements of mechanical, electrical and C&I.
  • Responsible for general defect rectification and fault finding, to achieve availability and reliability targets required.
  • Implement the health, safety and environmental management policies and ensure adherence with and review/development of all site operations procedures and management instructions.
  • Responsible for monitoring plant performance, identifying and taking proactive measures to improve performance shortfalls.
  • Ensuring compliance with and testing of the site emergency/abnormal condition plans and undertaking associated identified role(s), to manage all site emergencies safely and in line with local procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate and comprehensive shift log and ensuring all defects/works are recorded within the sites CMMS.
  • Ensure all plant simulations are recorded, maintained and closed in line with local arrangements.
  • Participate in employee recruitment, selection, reviews and training.
  • Assist with incident investigations to ensure root cause is identified and embed all learning within the unit.
  • Responsible for ensuring detailed incident reports are produced for all health, safety or environmental incidents and any unplanned loss of generation.
  • Provide operational support for all planned outages as required.
  • Adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures (including but not limited to) those specified in the Employment Handbook, H&S Policy, IMS System and any financial/accounting systems.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

  • HND or degree educated within an Engineering discipline with a high level of practical thermal/process plant operational experience.

  • A good understanding of all HSE aspects is a fundamental requirement, with IOSH Managing safely a minimum but NEBOSH Certificate qualified a preferre
