Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cancer Navigator to join our busy Radiology department to support the fast and pro-active delivery of timely diagnostics for all patients referred with suspected cancer.


This will be a demanding but fulfilling role, requiring excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders and providing an excellent patient experience to all of our patients touching this pathway.


The post holder will be responsible for setting up and maintaining clear pathways for each cancer area and modality to ensure the best pathways.


This role is to specifically turnaround patients on the day - ideally ensuring their diagnostic takes place on the day of clinic appointment, and where not possible that they are given their appointment (and it is agreed with the patient) on the day of their clinic appointment.


The post will require detailed liaison with the Trust Cancer Team, Speciality Cancer Teams, and internal Radiology team members as well as a high amount of daily contact with patients.


The post holder will also need to provide management with reports on performance of the cancer targets and highlight any thematic issues in pathways with suggestions of solutions.

KEY TASKS & Responsibilities:


  • Improve cancer waiting time performance
  • Delivery of optimal timed pathways
  • Support the achievement of Trust cancer plan
  • Work closely with the Trust Cancer team to develop effective, crossorganisational working
  • Improve patient pathway with earlier diagnosis and intervention through personalized care
  • Optimal use of Radiology equipment
  • To set up clear pathways for each cancer area within the Radiology setting
  • To issue guidance and supervision to all admin staff regarding the scheduling and imaging of all TWR patients
  • To ensure that office procedures for cancer pathways flow constantly
  • Work closely with Support Services lead to ensure smooth running of the entire booking team
  • To liaise with the Support Services Lead about any problems within the pathways to ensure that appropriate actions are taken.
  • To assist the Support Services Lead with the provision of statistics for appointment waiting list times
  • To provide guidance to any members of hospital staff who require it
  • To actively participate and drive forward new processes and workflows
