Fire Safety Officer
VANRATH are partnering with one of the largest Housing Associations in NI in their search for a
Fire Safety Officer.
The Fire Safety Officer is responsible for assisting the Fire Safety Manager in advising on, training in and auditing of fire safety.
Drawing on a solid knowledge of fire safety legislation, regulation and standards, they will advise and audit building safety standards and systems, assist in the creation and implementation of safety policies and procedures and train others in appropriate fire safety procedures.
Salary
This role offers c£29,269 pa plus excellent holiday allowance.
The Ideal person
Essential
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
- Extensive knowledge of Fire Safety Regulation and Best Practice.
- Delivery of Fire Safety training.
- Providing advice and preparing written reports on statutory compliance requirements and fire safety systems.
- Full drivers licence and access to a car.
Desirable
- UKAS Third Party Accreditation Body or hold a recognised professional Body Registration to provide Life Safety Fire Risk Assessments in line with the 'Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council' guidance.
- Experience in the liaison with statutory bodies.
- Conducting Fire Risk Assessments and appropriate control measures.
- Audit of Fire Risk Assessments and systems.
- Technical knowledge, particularly of M&E systems.
- Knowledge of Social Housing maintenance.
- Fire Door inspection qualification.
- Completing Person Centred Fire Risk Assessments, Personal Emergency Evacuation Assessments and Assessing Fire Doors.
Responsibilities
- To develop and operate an effective and efficient fire safety in accordance with the Association's policies, procedures, guidance, checklists, budgets and statutory/regulatory compliance.
- To promote and encourage fire safety awareness and standards.
- To carry out regular property fire safety inspections and audit associated Fire Risk Assessments to properties, ensuring that they meet all necessary regulations and identify any deficiencies or significant risks.
- To carry out Person Centred Fire Risk Assessments (PCFRAs) and Personal Emergency Evacuation Assessments (PEEAs) and associated plans.
- To respond to fire emergencies and arson crimes, investigating and reporting the causes of fire and taking appropriate responsive actions.
- To remain up to date with legislative and regulatory changes and ensure these are reflected in the Association's policies and procedures and assist managers in the implementation of actions arising from these changes.
