Overview of Vacancy


The broad purpose of the occupation is to deploy effective Quality Practices in their responsible area to ensure organisations fulfil the contractual and regulatory requirements of their customers and other stakeholders.


In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with a variety of departments within the organisation (engineering, supply chain/procurement, manufacturing, and service delivery departments) and external organisations, such as customers, suppliers and certification bodies when required.

Being the advocate for implementing Quality Practice and Governance.

A typical day will likely include internal meetings to review quality performance, such as gathering and analysing quality performance data, inspection or audit findings, carrying out audits or inspections, stakeholder visits, interacting with people from other functions to plan the quality delivery system for their area of responsibility.

Individuals will also support and develop people within and outside the Quality Function.

Individuals will be responsible for providing Quality duties within the following key areas:

  • Support Senior Quality Practitioner and Leaders to formulate Quality Strategy;
  • Contribute to the management of customer satisfaction and supplier performance;
  • Deploy Quality Policies and Governance;
  • Guide and support others to improve quality competency and performance;
  • Plan and Conduct Audits and other assurance activities;
  • Develop Quality Control Plans for products/services;
  • Provide guidance on use of methods/tools to improve quality performance;
  • Solving Quality problems, such as nonconformances, and overcoming challenges to the implementation of solutions;

Typical Working Week
You will work on site for four days per week and attend college for one day a week.

The work at Heathrow is defined as shift work as you would be expected to be working either day or night shifts.

Shift patterns are by the week, so you would either work a week of day shifts or a week of nights.


Apprentice Training
Evidence of prior learning in the form of certificates may exempt you from some elements of the training.

You will work on site for four days per week and attend college for one day a week, unless stated otherwise.

College and tuition fees are funded via the ESFA and K10. You must attend all college days to complete your apprenticeship qualification.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements


Applicants need to have at least an Level 1 in Functional Skills or GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.


Desired Requirements


The passion and commitment of an individual who wishes to work within a Quality Practitioner role as well as having an keen eye for detail, and being able to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.

It is likely to take 20 months to complete this apprenticeship, depending on current qualifications and experience.
