Head of Technical Accounting - Wakefield, United Kingdom - Sopra Steria
Description
Do you have the ability to lead several transactional teams as well as assist with strategy, automation and transformation? Can you bring inspiring thought leadership, personable service management and a deep dedication to transactional finance excellence?
As the Head of Technical Accounting you will ensure timely and accurate Balance Sheet system reconciliations (including Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting for some customers) approximately 100 organisations on a monthly cycle.
What you will be doing:
- Lead a team of NHS VAT specialists in the review of VAT treatment on £7m AP invoices and £500k sales invoices per annum, to create VAT statements submitted to HMRC each month.
- To plan, schedule and manage the defined business services, delivering to agreed timescales, budget, acceptance criteria, quality criteria and contractual commitments.
- Change control (with both customers and suppliers)
- To report and escalate service issues in an appropriate and timely fashion and initiate corrective action where required.
- To participate in projects, provide support to working parties and advice on developments in the relevant service lines managed.
- Stay ahead of client developments which may have an impact on the business services provided.
- Identify and manage issues and risks and take ownership for reporting them in an appropriate manner.
- Ensure all required controls are implemented, documented and monitored so as to ensure full audit compliance.
What you will bring:
- Qualified Accountant CIMA/ACCA
- Solid understanding of one or more specialist areas of BPS/F&A service delivery
- Able to seamlessly deliver service utilising a multifaceted mix of resources
- Ability to demonstrate a practical approach to continuous improvement of the processes which directly manage the delivery of services.
- Can assist customers to develop business processes and procedures in support of new products and services, or in response to systems changes.
- Participate in CIP projects utilising defined tools and techniques e.g. LEAN/Six Sigma.
- To ensure an effective communication process is in place with customer(s), line management, third party suppliers and team members.

up to £65,000 (plus a 3% flexible benefit) dependent on experience and development needs
