About the role


We are recruiting for a Senior Programme Managers within the UKRI Talent team, who will contribute to the delivery and development of UKRI Talent programmes, including the Future Leaders Fellowships (FLF), Innovation Scholars, and potential transitionaland longer term alternatives to ERC and MSCA, in the event of non-association with Horizon Europe.

The role will focus on the leadership of operational activities and people to contribute to the strategic development of UKRI Talent in the context of the recentlypublished People and Culture Strategy, which prioritises renewing the UK's position as a global leader in R&D by attracting, retaining and developing talented people.


Key responsibilities:


  • Leadership and operational management of UKRI Talent programmes; this may include preaward, postaward, evaluation and / or monitoring
  • Embedding procedures for effective, inclusive and consistent processes, including continuous improvement projects to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Analysing information from a variety of sources to inform effective decisionmaking
  • Engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders; this may include colleagues across UKRI and its Councils / Innovate UK, and academic and business communities
  • Lead the effective matrix working of the delivery team, advising senior staff on the optimal utilisation of available resources to support UKRI Talent activities
  • Line management of one or more members of staff, including a commitment to supporting and developing staff
  • Carry out any other duties/projects that may be required of the post across UKRI Talent

Person requirements

Qualifications:


  • Essential:_
  • Educated to degreelevel or equivalent experience

Knowledge and experience:


  • Essential:_
  • Understanding of the higher education sector and Experience of delivering funding programmes and/or project management of research or innovationrelated activities in a fastpaced environment, with clear planning and prioritisation skills
  • Strong and inclusive leadership skills; experience of motivating and effectively leading people and / or teams, including through ambiguity and change
  • An effective collaborator and team member, actively establishing excellent working relationships and networks to contribute to the enhancement of work output
  • Experience of and commitment to managing, supporting and developing staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly, negotiating and influencing with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels
  • Sophisticated analytical, problem solving and decisionmaking skills
  • Commitment to advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Good understanding of the differences between the research and business innovation environments and their respective communities

Additional information:


The post holder will be based primarily in Swindon but may be required to attend meetings/workshops in other UK locations.
