Key Purpose Statement The Inter-depot Planner is responsible for planning and executing movements of stock between our UK production and warehouse facilities to balance stock levels and ensure sufficient stock availability to service customer orders On Time and In Full.


Key Accountabilities
Brewery Movements:


  • Responsible for planning and executing all movements of stock from UK breweries to external warehouses, ensuring that stock is promptly uplifted upon production so that brewery operations can run efficiently without constraint.
  • Work collaboratively with production and supply planners to translate forecasts into collection plans that can be shared with 3rd party hauliers.
  • Proactively find logistics solutions to meet forecasted volume.
  • Raise STO purchase orders in the ERP system and communicate details to the relevant distribution teams.
  • Schedule collections with hauliers and ensure that booking slots are obtained.
  • Provide the distribution team with delivery paperwork confirming batches and SKU details for picking.
  • Monitor the daily dispatches to ensure STOs are shipped off in the ERP system.
  • Ensure that receiving warehouses receive inbound preadvices in their warehouse system to facilitate seamless receipt of goods on arrival.
  • Communicate any collection/delivery delays to all parties involved and reschedule loads where necessary.
  • Work with the brewery quality team to ensure that stock is released from QA in time for loading.
  • Communicate batches on quality hold to the receiving warehouses so that stock can be blocked accordingly.
  • Support with the return of product recalls.

3PL Warehouse Movements:


  • Working in alignment with Supply Planning to execute the stock movement plan between sites to balance stock across the Network and proactively manage out of stocks.
  • Consolidating planning requests to make up full loads and to drive logistics efficiency & costs.
  • Schedule deliveries with 3PL logistics providers based on required delivery dates to enable order fulfilment.
  • Raise STO purchase orders in the ERP system and ensure that they interface to 3PL warehouse systems correctly.
  • Monitor deliveries to ensure prompt receipt of stock, communicating any changes or delays to key internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively resolve issues with 3PL service promptly as they arise.
  • Investigate any product damages and drive corrective actions.
  • Support with peak planning by providing forecasts to 3PLs.

Performance Management:


  • Investigate delivery failures and drive root cause corrective actions.
  • Work collaboratively with 3PLs and hauliers to implement permanent fixes for service issues.
  • Monitor and hold logistics partners to account for contractual KPIs, including OTIF. This involves producing KPI performance dashboards.
  • Lead monthly operational reviews with key logistics providers
  • Responsible for sharing robust forecasts with logistics providers
  • Track actual volumes vs forecasts and feed forecast accuracy back to production and planning teams.

Budget and Cost Control:


  • Take full accountability for all interdepot costs, ensuring that operations are streamlined to optimise cost and deliver budget
  • Validate haulier invoice backing sheets by reconciling costs.
  • Approve invoices in the Concur system.
  • Report on and analyse costs incurred vs budget, explaining any variance to budget to finance business partners
  • Proactively identify cost saving initiatives.
  • Assist with monthend by providing finance business partners with an itemised summary of monthly costs, ensuring that outstanding costs are accrued for.
  • Work with procurement and finance teams to agree on new contractual rates

Profile description:

Experience Required:


  • Relevant supply chain experience, preferably in FMCG or drinks industry
  • Experience working in a Logistics role
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Customer or supplier relationship management exposure
  • Experience in a fastpaced, high volume, detailed and process driven organisation
  • System experience in an ERP environment (specific SAP experience desirable)
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • European Languages would be an advantage esp Italian, Dutch, and Polish.
Fluent English is essential
