About the role
We have a newly created opportunity within the Technology division of Ocado, reporting to the Technology Centres Director.

As Head of Centre UK, you will support Ocado Technology Directors and Heads of department by helping them to achieve their missions within a multinational group of centres collaborating together.


In this role you will lead the Office management team and the UK Technology Talent Acquisition function and work closely with other Central functions like People, Finance and Employer Brand & Comms, focussing on engagement and promoting a positive employee experience in London, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.


We're looking for a Head of Centre who can help us develop and embed an awesome culture, someone who can use their initiative, ingenuity and invention to get the job done and who loves to collaborate to solve new and complex problems within a rapidly changing industry.

A Head of Centre will be someone happy in an environment that is changeable and who is excited by a role that requires an ability to flex and adapt to that change.


In this role you will

  • Champion Ocado's values, principles, behaviours and culture.
  • Forge strong collaborative bonds and learning culture with other development centres
  • Ensure smooth and efficient collaboration between multiple locations as part of the same centre aiming to provide the same employee experience in London, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.
  • Develop the role as part of the development centre leaders team, being aware of the specific strengths and capabilities of each of the centres.
  • Build local groups with the involvement of Technology leaders to represent the needs of the centres.
  • Forge strong collaborative bonds with other development centres.
  • Support the Directors/Heads of the technology departments as a trusted advisor to support the creation of technology teams that deliver highquality and effective solutions.
  • Lead and coordinate office management function and recruitment team.
  • Deliver recruitment goals to help local leaders achieve the growth targets of the organisation.
  • Where necessary is heavily involved in the selection and development of the centre's office to create a compelling place to work.
  • Build and enhance the Ocado Technology brand locally and promote awareness of Ocado Technology as an employer of choice.
  • Support an innovative, collaborative and productive environment for all employees to perform to their best and exceed their potential.
  • Develop the skills of direct reports through appropriate training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Drive productivity and performance within the Business Support team and successful collaboration with central services to support the needs of the centre and other stakeholders.

About you

  • Experience in a senior leadership role, leading other leaders, within a fastchanging Technology company.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recruitment strategies, to achieve headcount goals and hiring targets
  • Strong use of data insight to drive change and make decisions
  • Product Mindset, continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to evolve product solutions
  • Experience in Business Management (e.g. people processes, budgeting, audits, running a business, commercial awareness, legal aspects etc).
  • Experience working and communicating with people at all levels from handson operational workforces to senior management
  • Experience in employer branding to represent and promote the Centre both internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English). Comfortable communicating with large groups of people.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to inspire confidence and deliver a compelling vision.
