The role
As an Environmental Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

This role will give you great exposure to opportunities within Babcock International and offers the chance of a long-lasting career.

Day to day, you'll protect the environment through a wide range of tasks.

You will drive sustainability and environmental performance forwards for the Babcock Rail compliance management system and implement our Sustainability Strategy, focussing activities on the Workplace, Marketplace, and Community.


  • Provide specialist advice on sustainability and environmental legislative and contractual compliance for the project
  • Manage the project's Environmental Management Plan, Emergency Response Plan, Environmental Risk Profile and Aspects and Impact registers
  • Develop within the environmental management platform a project specific Environment and Sustainability Threats and Opportunities profile
  • Implementing and continuous improvement of the Babcock Rail compliance management system to the ISO14001 standard for the site.
  • Investigating events on site and leading rootcause analyses and corrective/preventative action programmes.

Experience of the Environmental Advisor

  • Previous experience or knowledge gained in an Environmental focused role, ideally gained within in a Rail environment but not essential.
  • Experience of designing, implementing and/or working with an EMS, certified to ISO1400
  • Previous experience in a construction or engineering environment
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous improvements and selfmotivated approaches
This role is a full-time role, with agile working (Flexible working from home, occasional office days)


Qualifications for the Environmental Advisor

  • Possess a degree (or equivalent) in an Environmental/Engineering discipline.
  • Possess an IEMA Certificate (Associate level or above)
