Hours: 30 hrs per week


Salary:
£18,278 per annum (£12,255 per annum pro-rata)

Contract:
Permanent; 37 weeks per year (term time plus 1 training week).
Grafton Recruitment are now seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to our client based in Rotherham.

The Teaching Assistant is responsible for enabling learners with additional needs to access learning and fully participating in general college activities,through the provision of literacy and/or numeracy support.

The Teaching Assistant will also provide general practical assistance in discrete and cross-college curriculum provision and will safeguard and promote the welfare of children.


Duties of the Teaching Assistant

  • To provide inclass literacy, numeracy and IT support to learners with additional needs as deployed by LSA Coordinator.
  • To provide general inclass support to groups or individual learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, as directed by the lecturer in class.
  • To provide discrete individual support when required to support learners with portfolio building, study skills, numeracy and literacy as deployed by LSA Coordinator.
  • To support learners with additional needs in accessing College facilities and crossCollege activities as deployed by LSA Coordinator.
  • To liaise with other staff within the Additional Learning Support team to ensure an effective and responsive Additional Learning Support Service.
  • To attend learner's review meetings, where appropriate.
  • To attend course team meetings, as appropriate.
  • To update and maintain learners individual learning plans on ProMonitor under direction from ALS Team Leader.
  • To maintain appropriate records of any of the above or other duties performed in connection with the role in accordance with College Policies and Procedures.
  • To carry out invigilation duties and regular training when required.
  • To undertake any other duties required which are commensurate with the responsibility and grading of this post.
  • To be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students having due regard to the College's Child & Vulnerable Adults Protection Policy.

Role Criteria

  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy or willingness to undertake.
  • Specialist support qualification to level 3 or willingness to complete.
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • Experience with working with young persons in a support role.
  • Experience with working within an educational setting.
  • Willing and able to empathise and work within learners in a positive and supportive way.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Willing to undertake any training connected with the post.
  • Willing to undertake statutory training in connection with Safeguarding, Data Protection, Equality and Diversity, and Prevent.
  • Good sickness/attendance record in current/previous employment, college or school as appropriate (not including absences resulting from disability).
