Finance Manager

Summary of the Role

  • Ensuring good financial control (timely, accurate and complete) of ledgers for all sites/legal entities and reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts.
  • To be main custodian of all income, card and cash receipts processes.
  • Act as main point of contact for all banking operations and VAT.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller and the wider finance team in any queries and ensure the finance function achieves all objectives and deadlines including pitching in to cover peak periods and absences.
  • Provide cover for Financial Controller when not in office.
  • Assisting in managing the AR/AP and Payroll team members. Provide training for junior members as required. Business partnering with the sites for accounts payable processes, income collection including OTC cash and card collection processes, expenses andpayroll processes
  • Reviewing weekly transaction processing to ensure end to end financial control procedures are followed and ledgers are correctly maintained.
  • Ownership of daily/weekly/monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation processes. Maintain daily /weekly/monthly reporting of relevant KPIs and analysis of targets as required.
  • Support the Payroll Manager in managing and improving T&A, payroll and pensions processes as well as with technical support around compliance matters.
  • Provide payroll analysis and reporting as required
  • Preparation, submission and review of VAT and ensuring compliance with HMRC VAT, PAYE, Pensions and ONS processes as well as other ad hoc returns
  • Maintain permanent banking file including DD's, SO's, delegations of authority, card holders etc. Act as main bank liaison
  • Ensure achievement of informal SLA's for expense payments and locum payments
  • Managing or supporting new ledger set ups, new document management set ups and chart of accounts changes as required.
  • Supporting and managing the endtoend audit trail for current processes and systems including document and interface management.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing all endtoend transaction processing procedures to ensure completeness and up to date
  • Prepare, review and post monthly accruals, prepayments and other nominated journals including payroll and recharges.
  • Ensure fully reconciled balance sheet accounts.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Prompt investigation and resolution of any unreconciled items
  • Continually identify risks which lead to inaccuracies and/or lack of timely ledger cut off, propose solutions where necessary and effectively communicate and manage implementation of agreed solutions as required
  • Support production of cash flow forecasts as well as weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes with variance commentary/analysis as required
  • Ensuring the business meets all its statutory and compliance obligations as required
  • Provide recommendations for efficiency improvements / continuous improvement mindset
  • Liaising with Operations Team and other Finance Team members as required
The Right Person

  • Previous experience in a for profit commercial enterprise (2 years minimum) working across multiple disciplines, multiple sites and legal entities
  • Experience of AP and AR and cash operations including high volume transaction management
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise busy workload and working flexibly as required
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Experience supporting monthly management accounts for multiple sites, statutory accounts preparation and year end audit
  • Ability to delegate and manage the work of others
  • Part qualified accountant or QBE (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Produced budgets for medium sized company
